Week 1 Waiver Wire Notes

WR Ronald Curry (OAK): Curry had a huge game against Detroit with 11 catches for 130 yards and a score. He and QB Josh McCown looked to have developed a good connection as this may be a sign of things to come for Curry. Chances are he was taken in your draft, but there is the possibility of him being out there for the taking. He is only owned in 54% of CBS Sportslines leagues.

RB Derrick Ward (NYG): Derrick Ward filled in nicely for Brandon Jacobs in Sunday Night’s loss to the Cowboys. Ward got the bulk of the carries after Jacobs went down with a sprained MCL, and gained 89 yards rushing on 13 carries and also added 4 catches for 27 yards and a TD. While Jacobs is expected to miss 3-5 weeks, Ward is worth starting as a #3 RB and he is a must grab on the waiver wire.

RB Chris Brown (TEN): Brown looked physically imposing as he piled up 175 yards on 19 carries against a good Jacksonville defense. Lendale White was the teams starting RB, but didn’t look overly impressive gaining only 66 yards on 18 carries. Brown should be the teams starter as long as he can stay healthy and consistent, which has been his problem since entering the league in 2003. Brown is a must grab if he is available and could wind up being a solid #2 or #3 RB.
