Strong QB plays
Ben Roethlisberger @ Cleveland. Look for Big Ben to put up good numbers against a mediocre at best Cleveland secondary.
This one was easy, Cleveland looks worse than we thought. Could use some more yards out of Big Ben though.
----------------------------------
Matt Hasselbeck at home against Tampa Bay. Hasselback should enjoy a nice day against a weak Tampa pass rush and their dreadful safeties.
This is close to being a push, as Hasselbeck didn't exactly tear it up, but 222 and a TD should have kept you in any game.
----------------------------------
Tony Romo at home against the NY Giants. Romo and T.O. will have their way with the Giants pedestrian secondary.
Romo blew up, and anyone who started him went to bed happy on Sunday night.
----------------------------------
Jay Cutler @Buffalo. With the loss of Clements, the Bills will have their hands full trying to shut down Javon Walker and the sleeper wide-out of ’07 Brandon Marshall.
300+ with a TD and only 1 pick is a good game in almost any league.
----------------------------------
Matt Leinart @San Francisco. Even with the uprgrades in the 49ers secondary, look for Leinart to put up good yardage and a few TD’s in a shootout against SF.
Okay, we missed this one; Leinart did poorly in this game. If it makes you feel better, we started him on our WCOFF team.
----------------------------------
Weak QB plays
Chad Pennington at home against New England. Try to avoid Pennington as New England’s strong D wont give him much.
Yards were low, but two TD's are always a boost. We'll count this as a miss.
----------------------------------
Jeff Garcia @ Seattle. Garcia will have a tough time in his first start on the road. The Seahawks have a good pass rush and a solid secondary with Marcus Trufant and Kelly Jennings at the corners.
200 yards and that's it. Not a good outing.
----------------------------------
Rex Grossman @San Diego. Although Rex should have a better year than last, don’t expect it to be this week going up against a fierce Chargers defense led by Shawne Merriman.
145 yards, no TD's and a pick, we'd say that's a weak play.
----------------------------------
Vince Young @Jacksonville. While Young should have a good year, avoid starting him this week if you have a better option. Last year he was terrible against the Jaguars in both games going a combined 23 of 51 for 248 yards with 1 TD/3 INT's and 18 rushing yards.
78 passing yards and a pick, but one rushing TD. We like him for the long haul, especially in leagues that only give 4 points for passing TD's.
----------------------------------
Strong RB plays
Adrian Peterson at home against Atlanta. The Vikings will turn to the ground game in this one as they try to ease second year QB Tarvaris Jackson into his starting role.
Who would have called a rookie RB that was splitting carries to have a great day? We would! It didn't hurt that Chester Taylor got, ah, hurt, but Peterson looked dynamic and should have a great year.
----------------------------------
Lamont Jordan at home against Detroit. With no Dominic Rhodes the first four games, Jordan should get plenty of touches against the Lions who were 21st in run defense last season.
Good game from LaMont, if he keeps that up he might keep Dominic Rhodes from stealing too many carries
----------------------------------
Weak RB plays
Any Tennessee RB. Don’ t expect much out of their run game going against a stifling Jacksonville run D.
Wow. Swing and a miss here. Chris Brown looked downright sleek in this game. We'll see if he can play more than 3 games without getting hurt; if he does, he'll be a sneaky play, especially in PPR leagues.
