2008 QB Rankings
1. Tom Brady,NE
In 2007, Brady enjoyed the best season a QB has ever had. Should be more of the same in 2008, but temper TD expectations to around 40.
2. Peyton Manning,IND
Threw for over 4,000 yards and had 31 TDs, in 2007 -- without Marvin Harrison. If Harrison gets back to form (which is a big if considering his age and recent gun incident), expect even better numbers from Peyton in 2008.
3. Tony Romo,DAL
Romo is living every guy’s dream right now: He’s Rich, He’s the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys and Jessica Simpson is his girlfriend. Now, if he could only win a playoff game…
4. Drew Brees,NO
Expect a little more balance in the NO offense next year (so 600+ attempts out of Brees is probably not in the cards), but with that comes more effectiveness out of the passing game. Think Drew Brees 2006, rather than Drew Brees 2007.
5. Carson Palmer, CIN
Assuming Chad and Housh show up to play, Palmer should be a solid fantasy option once again. But even if one or both don’t show, Cincy is still bad on D, so no matter who the WRs are, Carson is going to be slinging it.
6. Derek Anderson,CLE
Anderson won’t be sneaking up on defenses this year like he did in ’07, but with the weapons he has to throw to, including new free agent signee Donte’ Stallworth, he doesn’t need to.
7. Ben Roethlisberger,PIT
Big Ben was solid and sometimes spectacular in ’07, and with new weapons Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed added via the draft, he could take the next step to the elite level in ‘08.
8. Donovan McNabb,PHI
Coming off a torn ACL suffered in 2006, McNabb never seemed to be himself in 2007. Another year removed from the injury, and the addition of play-making WR DeSean Jackson, will definitely lead to better results in 2008.
9. Jay Cutler,DEN
Earlier this off-season, Cutler revealed that he suffered from type 1 diabetes, but it will not affect his status as the starting QB of the Denver Broncos. And that’s good, because things are looking up for the Denver Receiving Corp, with the additions of Darrel Jackson and Keary Colbert, and of course stud Brandon Marshall is still on schedule with his injury rehab.
10. Matt Hasselbeck,SEA
Hasselbeck will be missing 2 of his favorite WRs from ’07 to start the 2008 season. D.J. Hackett moved on to Carolina, and Deion Branch is recovering from an ACL injury suffered in the playoffs, but Seattle has players ready to step up. WRs Nate Burleson, Bobby Engram, and Ben Obamanu should be the starters to open the season.
11. Eli Manning,NYG
What a difference a 4 game play-off win streak makes. New Yorkfans were ready to run Eli out of town at points last year, but as the team continued to win, Eli’s confidence continued to grow. With that new found confidence, Manning should cash in on a solid fantasy year in 2008.
12. Mark Bulger,STL
2007 was a nightmare for Bulger, but with Olando Pace back protecting his blind-side, and the additions of OC Al Saunders and speedster WR Donnie Avery, things are looking better for the STL offense in 2008.
13. David Garrard,JAC
w:st="on">Jacksonville looks like a team that can contend for a Super Bowl in ’08, and Garrard looks like the leader that can get them there. The additions of WRs Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson should help his fantasy prospects too.
14. Matt Schaub,HOU
Andre Johnson. That all the reason one needs to rank Schaub in the top 15.
15. Vince Young,TEN
VY didn’t live up to expectations in ’07, but that’s partially due to injuries. In leagues that reward rushing TDs greater than passing, Young is still a serviceable option.
