Week 1: Strong Play / Weak Play, a look back

Strong QB plays
Ben Roethlisberger @ Cleveland. Look for Big Ben to put up good numbers against a mediocre at best Cleveland secondary.

This one was easy, Cleveland looks worse than we thought. Could use some more yards out of Big Ben though.
----------------------------------
Matt Hasselbeck at home against Tampa Bay. Hasselback should enjoy a nice day against a weak Tampa pass rush and their dreadful safeties.

This is close to being a push, as Hasselbeck didn't exactly tear it up, but 222 and a TD should have kept you in any game.
----------------------------------
Tony Romo at home against the NY Giants. Romo and T.O. will have their way with the Giants pedestrian secondary.

Romo blew up, and anyone who started him went to bed happy on Sunday night.
----------------------------------
Jay Cutler @Buffalo. With the loss of Clements, the Bills will have their hands full trying to shut down Javon Walker and the sleeper wide-out of ’07 Brandon Marshall.

300+ with a TD and only 1 pick is a good game in almost any league.
----------------------------------
Matt Leinart @San Francisco. Even with the uprgrades in the 49ers secondary, look for Leinart to put up good yardage and a few TD’s in a shootout against SF.

Okay, we missed this one; Leinart did poorly in this game. If it makes you feel better, we started him on our WCOFF team.
----------------------------------

Weak QB plays
Chad Pennington at home against New England. Try to avoid Pennington as New England’s strong D wont give him much.

Yards were low, but two TD's are always a boost. We'll count this as a miss.
----------------------------------
Jeff Garcia @ Seattle. Garcia will have a tough time in his first start on the road. The Seahawks have a good pass rush and a solid secondary with Marcus Trufant and Kelly Jennings at the corners.

200 yards and that's it. Not a good outing.
----------------------------------
Rex Grossman @San Diego. Although Rex should have a better year than last, don’t expect it to be this week going up against a fierce Chargers defense led by Shawne Merriman.

145 yards, no TD's and a pick, we'd say that's a weak play.
----------------------------------
Vince Young @Jacksonville. While Young should have a good year, avoid starting him this week if you have a better option. Last year he was terrible against the Jaguars in both games going a combined 23 of 51 for 248 yards with 1 TD/3 INT's and 18 rushing yards.

78 passing yards and a pick, but one rushing TD. We like him for the long haul, especially in leagues that only give 4 points for passing TD's.
----------------------------------

Strong RB plays

Adrian Peterson at home against Atlanta. The Vikings will turn to the ground game in this one as they try to ease second year QB Tarvaris Jackson into his starting role.

Who would have called a rookie RB that was splitting carries to have a great day? We would! It didn't hurt that Chester Taylor got, ah, hurt, but Peterson looked dynamic and should have a great year.
----------------------------------
Lamont Jordan at home against Detroit. With no Dominic Rhodes the first four games, Jordan should get plenty of touches against the Lions who were 21st in run defense last season.

Good game from LaMont, if he keeps that up he might keep Dominic Rhodes from stealing too many carries
----------------------------------
Weak RB plays

Any Tennessee RB. Don’ t expect much out of their run game going against a stifling Jacksonville run D.

Wow. Swing and a miss here. Chris Brown looked downright sleek in this game. We'll see if he can play more than 3 games without getting hurt; if he does, he'll be a sneaky play, especially in PPR leagues.

Raiders' Starting QB still a mystery; Bigger mystery: Does anyone care?

Raiders' Coach Lane Kiffin has apparently informed both Daunte Culpepper and Josh McCown who will be starting at Quarterback on Sunday, but is keeping it a secret from the public. If you are worried about which one will start because it impacts your fantasy football team, you may want to check out the waiver wire.

|

Lions to employ backfield committee?

Reports out of Detroit are that the Lions are considering using both Tatum Bell and T.J. Duckett at RB while awaiting Kevin Jones to return from injury.

Fear not Bell owners, Duckett won't take any catches away from Tatum, and he likely won't take any carries away from him once Duckett establishes a 2.4 yard per carry average.

|

“It’s Not All L.J.”

According to Chiefs Head Coach Herman Edwards, Larry Johnson will not be carrying the full load until he is ready after his 25 day holdout. Edwards was quoted on Tuesday saying, "Larry is going to be on a little bit of a leash early," and noted later, "He has to get his legs underneath him. Michael's healthy, which is good. We feel very comfortable with the runners we have now. It's not all on L.J., which is good."

This does not affect Johnson’s status as he should never be out of your starting lineup, but you should check the waiver wire and pick Bennett up if he is available. He could be a nice option early on in the season as a 3rd or 4th running back.

|

September 7, 2007

Warrick Dunn named Starting RB

The starting running back for the Atlanta Falcons will be Warrick Dunn, as announced by head coach Bobby Petrino. It still remains to be seen how many touches Jerious Norwood will get; Norwood is consistently being drafted ahead of Dunn. Both of these backs are risky this season, as they will be splitting carries in a highly suspect offense. Draft either of these backs for depth only.

September 10, 2007

Week 1 Waiver Wire Notes

WR Ronald Curry (OAK): Curry had a huge game against Detroit with 11 catches for 130 yards and a score. He and QB Josh McCown looked to have developed a good connection as this may be a sign of things to come for Curry. Chances are he was taken in your draft, but there is the possibility of him being out there for the taking. He is only owned in 54% of CBS Sportslines leagues.

RB Derrick Ward (NYG): Derrick Ward filled in nicely for Brandon Jacobs in Sunday Night’s loss to the Cowboys. Ward got the bulk of the carries after Jacobs went down with a sprained MCL, and gained 89 yards rushing on 13 carries and also added 4 catches for 27 yards and a TD. While Jacobs is expected to miss 3-5 weeks, Ward is worth starting as a #3 RB and he is a must grab on the waiver wire.

RB Chris Brown (TEN): Brown looked physically imposing as he piled up 175 yards on 19 carries against a good Jacksonville defense. Lendale White was the teams starting RB, but didn’t look overly impressive gaining only 66 yards on 18 carries. Brown should be the teams starter as long as he can stay healthy and consistent, which has been his problem since entering the league in 2003. Brown is a must grab if he is available and could wind up being a solid #2 or #3 RB.

Week 1 Injury Report (updated 9/12/07)

QB Eli Manning (NYG): The team is reporting that Eli suffered a bruised right shoulder in Sunday Night’s loss the Cowboys and is currently listed as day to day. However, ESPN is speculating that Eli could miss up to 4 weeks. Either way this is not good for fantasy owners of Eli, especially after his impressive performance with 4 TD’s in Week 1. If Eli is your starting QB, make plans now for an alternative.
Updated 9/12/07: Manning did some light throwing at practice and remains a question mark for Sunday. Make other plans at QB for now.

RB Brandon Jacobs (NYG): The Giants got more bad news with the injury of Jacobs on Sunday as he is expected to miss 3-5 weeks with a sprained MCL. Derrick Ward looked solid in filling in and is expected to share time with fullback Reuben Droughns for the next few weeks until Jacobs returns. If either Droughns or Ward is available on the waiver wire they are must grabs until Jacobs comes back from injury, although it seems Ward has more value in PPR leagues.

RB Cadillac Williams (TB): The injury bug seems to have struck Cadillac once again as he left Sunday’s game in the 3rd quarter against Seattle with bruised ribs. Williams is unlikely to play Sunday at home against New Orleans, therefore backups Earnest Graham and fullback Michael Pittman will be carrying the load in Williams’ place. This makes Graham and Pittman an attractive option as a #3 RB option, not only for week 2 but possibly all season long as this could be a recurring theme.
Updated 9/12/07: Reports from Tampa state that Cadillac may play in Week 2. He has bruised ribs but stated that he is feeling much better. This complicates the backfield for Fantasy purposes, as either back would make a strong play against a weak New Orleans D. Without knowing Cadillac's status, it's hard to green light either back. Check back here closer to game time for our verdict.

WR Eddie Kennison (KC): Kennison is expected to miss two weeks with a pulled right hamstring he injured on the first play of the game against Houston in week 1. It is expected rookie WR Dwayne Bowe will start in his place. However, we recommend not starting Bowe until he shows he (and the KC offense) can produce.

WR Greg Jennings (GB): After sitting out week 1 with a pulled hamstring, Jennings is expected to play this coming Sunday @ Dallas. The Packers and Jennings have high expectations for the second year wide out and could have a good day against a Dallas secondary that got torched by the Giants passing attack in week 1.

RB TJ Duckett (DET): Duckett’s status for week 2 is unclear as he is trying to recover from a high ankle sprain. Avoid starting Duckett any week regardless, his only value is in touchdown heavy leagues.

WR Terry Glenn (DAL): Glenn is still seeking opinions and deciding whether to have micro-fracture surgery on his right knee that would likely end his season. Patrick Crayton is starting in his place and shows promise as a starting receiver opposite Terrell Owens. If possible, grab Crayton as a potential break-out receiver.

QB Chad Pennington (NYJ): Pennington was having a good start to his season until he injured his right ankle against the Patriots. It looks like second year back up Kellen Clemens will get his first start Sunday @ Baltimore. Avoid both QB’s this week as neither of them will produce much against the Ravens defense, but if Pennington misses significant time, look at Clemens as he has some favorable matchups down the road.

Updated 9/13/07: Kellen Clemens will start this weekend against Baltimore. Govern yourself accordingly.

K Josh Scobee (JAC): Scobee will miss 3 to 6 weeks with a quadriceps injury. John Carney will kick in his place.

Check back here throughout the week, as we will update these and other injuries as news becomes available!

Meet the FFAll-Stars 2007 WCOFF Squad

The Draft:

We took part in the Orlando Draft, and our league was filled with guys who had clearly done their homework. 12 team league, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex, TE, K, D. Here's how our draft went, we had the #9 pick -

Pick 1.9 - Shaun Alexander: This was our worst case scenario, but we had mocked out about 60 drafts and came to the conclusion he was the pick here. We could be looking back at this draft and wondering how we landed a guy that scores 20 TD's at the 9 spot.

Pick 2.4 - Terrell Owens: We never thought our top 3, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, and Chad Johnson would all be gone here, but the team on the end at 12 took Manning and Chad with consecutive picks. It hurt us, but it hurt him more. Anyway, hopefully Jerry Jones held a little money back from the new stadium to continue paying for T.O.'s electro-shock treatments, or whatever they've been doing to keep him out of trouble.

Pick 3.9 - Antonio Gates: Somebody had the balls to suggest this was too early. I'll have the balls to say enjoy your 6.5 points per week from the TE spot.

Pick 4.4 - Clinton Portis - We passed on Portis in the 3rd, and he fell to us in the 4th. This pick was a gift from the draft gods.

Pick 5.9 - Tatum Bell - Let's just say the FFAll-Stars.com crew are in a handful (read: a ton) of leagues (almost all PPR), and we are long in Tatum Bell. Last year we were long in Frank Gore and that turned out nicely.

Pick 6.4 - Santonio Holmes - One of our crew has a man-crush on Santonio, so we had to grab him here, lest he not make it back to us in the 7th. We stand by the pick though, as the WR's went like hotcakes in the early rounds.

Pick 7.9 - Kevin Jones - The only draft-day miscommunication, The Prof thought we were pulling the trigger on Vince Young, but The Goose thought it prudent to handcuff Jones. Everything turned out ok because...

Pick 8.4 - Vince Young - he made it back to us. Since this league is only 4pts per TD and -1pts for INT's, Young's value is increased. One of our targets at the outset, and we got him. Good times. And no we don't believe in anything EA Sports related that we will not mention here. Click Here to see my article for an unrelated EA Sports, post-draft moment.

Pick 9.9 - Muhsin Muhammad - At this point we are satisfied with our core group, but that last receiver spot was looking thin, hence this pick. We were not thrilled with this pick.

Pick 10.4 - Matt Leinart - We like the upside here, and nobody else warranted a 10th round pick. And no, we did not take him to have both QB's from the National Championship game from two years ago, unlike the idiots who took both Adrian Peterson's or Chris Henry's just to get a rise out of the crowd.

Pick 11.9 - Drew Bennett - More upside in a passing offense with aging and possibly injured receivers. Of course, it would have helped to know that he, too, is banged up.

Pick 12.4 - Troy Williamson - Still trying to feel better about our WR's, we grabbed the last legitimate starter on the board. If he could just hold on to a pass, he might actually produce some good numbers.

Pick 13.9 - Miami D - Defenses in this league are less relevant than most others, if that is even possible. That should fill you in on what we thought of the talent pool at this point.

Pick 14.4 - Arnaz Battle - My vote for sleeper pick of the draft. We will likely be looking for more help at the 3rd WR position, but this guy could produce like a number two.

Pick 15.9 - Kevin Faulk - Let the dice rolling begin. Good in PPR leagues if Maroney goes down.

Pick 16.4 - Lorenzo Booker - Who the hell knows what is going on in Miami, but Booker was the guy who looked the best to us. He'll probably be the first waiver wire casualty.

Pick 17.9 - Maurice Morris - Two picks ago we asked each other whether Mo Morris was worth a pick, which at that point, he wasn't. Two picks later, he looked pretty damn good.

Pick 18.4 - David Martin - Man-Crush #2 (The Prof), allegedly the next Antonio Gates (see pick 3.9). I like Martin, and now everyone has their boyfriend on the team (Except Vegas Pete, because Marc Anthony doesn't play football).

Pick 19.9 - Robbie Gould - Whatever.

Pick 20.4 - Packers D - I love this pick, I predict lots of turnovers and TD's.

So that's the team, follow the saga this season as we compete for the $300,000 Grand Prize!

Also check back for our post-draft pictorial!

Some closure (not really) on the decline of Madden and NCAA Football games

For years me and my buddy Ted have built glorious dynasties in NCAA and Madden. We take a crappy school/team and play co-op (Him on QB/RB, me on WR/FB) vs. the computer and, let's just say, we have logged significant time doing this. When the next-gen (PS3, Xbox 360) came out with their new versions, we were appalled to find that you simply COULD NOT play co-op. For the last few YEARS we have fumed over how stupid these programmers must be to remove this feature. What benefit could there possibly be? After all, we weren't asking for anything new, just for them to stop eliminating already existing features. Other notable deductions were Franchise mode, Superstar mode, and the original Madden for Xbox 360 didn't even have the John Madden commentary. Even the gameplay sucked, which contradicts the porting argument (see below).

Fast forward to this past weekend, post-draft, I'm at the bar ordering a drink and catch a glimpse of the guy next to me's credit card, which proudly featured the EA Sports logo. I casually asked him if that's what it was, to which he smiled and said that it was. Now, at this point, this guy (who was on what looked like a first date) thought it was a good thing I recognized it. How wrong this poor fella was. After he admitted that he worked on BOTH Madden and NCAA, I proceeded to cross-examine him for the next 10 minutes about my many issues with the "new and improved" versions of both games. He gave some half-assed responses about porting the game to a new language, but this was not satisfactory. When I complained that you could not play two guys on the same team, he asked, "Why do you care?" Are the people at EA that out of touch with their original fan base? Have years of appealing to the lowest common denominator eliminated any thinking outside the box? Clearly this guy knew nothing more than the style of play that goes: "Fire up the Xbox, you take the Cowboys, I'll take the Pats and we'll trade 80 yard bombs to T.O. and Randy Moss."

Anyway, at some point I realized that 1) he had essentially stopped responding and was simply nodding and smiling in fear, and 2) I was simply lambasting this guy and not really asking questions. I let him go on his way, not really getting any good answers, but feeling better about airing my grievances. At least somebody over at EA knows that some die hard original Maddenites hate their new product and that they've lost us as consumers because they couldn't keep a simple thing like co-op play.

The one thing that saved this guy's life is that I am somewhat over the EA Sports demise due to the resurrection of the 2k Sports football game: All-Pro Football 2k8. The gameplay is far superior to Madden (once you get the feel for it) and the fact that you play with NFL legends gives the game a great wrinkle to distinguish it from Madden. Once they figure out how to implement a Franchise mode, it will be far superior to anything EA has produced.

So, to the random EA programmer for whom I most likely ruined a date: Next time, before you flash your EA Sports credit card in public, make sure the guy next to you isn't an obsessive video football gamer harboring a 3 year grudge against your company.

Week 1 WCOFF Recap

Week 1 began with the FFAllStars team in a hole, as the team we played against CreativeSports, who picked Reggie Wayne with their first pick. Clearly an attempt to steal a victory with Wayne's points already on the books, the move left them with Maroney, Ronnie Brown and Chester Taylor as their 3 RB's. Besides Wayne, CreativeSports locked up Randy Moss in the 4th and Darrell Jackson in the 5th. In the 8th, they curiously passed on Kellen Winslow at TE in favor of Randy McMichael. Phillip Rivers and Alex Smith (Smith started week 1) were chosen in rounds 9 and 10, and they landed the Patriots D in the 11th.

Our horses for week one were:

10.60 Matt Leinart ARI QB
19.70 Shaun Alexander SEA RB
15.80 Clinton Portis WAS RB
19.30 Tatum Bell DET RB
14.60 Santonio Holmes PIT WR
1.80 Muhsin Muhammad CHI WR
23.70 Terrell Owens DAL WR
25.70 Antonio Gates SDG TE
3.00 Robbie Gould CHI K
6.00 Miami Dolphins MIA D/ST

Total: 140.20

Solid performances out of almost everyone; Leinart did not look good on Monday night, and Muhsin Muhammad's stinker was somewhat expected. We expect Arnaz Battle to fill the 3rd WR position this coming week.

Their team:

9.90 Alex Smith SFO QB
13.20 Ronnie Brown MIA RB
7.20 Laurence Maroney NWE RB
3.10 Chester Taylor MIN RB
30.50 Reggie Wayne IND WR
7.60 Darrell Jackson SFO WR
33.30 Randy Moss NWE WR
4.40 Randy McMichael STL TE
9.60 Josh Brown SEA K
11.00 New England Patriots NWE D/ST

Total: 129.80

Going into Monday night it was all on Darrell Jackson's shoulders, and fortunately he had a very mediocre game. We really didn't expect to be able to match up with Wayne and Moss, but we got lucky with the Taylor injury. Ronnie Brown ended up with a decent day, solely based on his receptions. Portis and Brown were only a couple points difference yet Portis found the end-zone while Brown did not. This will be a recurring problem for FFAll-Stars, as Alexander and Portis are not pass-catching backs. Hopefully Alexander gets his wish and is targeted more in the passing game!

The Awards:

Bust of the Week: Muhsin Muhammad - Completely ineffective, he won't be cut, but his days as a starter on our team are probably over.

Lex Luthor Villian of the Week: Randy Moss - We were sick watching Moss decimate the Jets defense. Despite his killer numbers, he also got stopped at the one yard line, which would have made this one even closer. Making it out of Week 1 and not having to face Moss or Wayne again in the regular season will make me sleep better at night.

MVP of the Week: Tatum Bell - It's hard not to acknowledge Gates here, because he saved our week. But, he was our third round choice. T.O. had a great week, but he was our number two. Bell, on the other hand, was our fifth round pick, and scored as many points as our number one. Without Tatum's solid all-around performance, we start the season 0-1. So for this week, the case of Krusovice goes to Tatum Bell.

We'll post our projected lineup and opponent later in the week, and don't be afraid to send us your feedback about our WCOFF Team!

Injury Impact - Orlando Pace

The St. Louis Rams All-World Left Tackle Orlando Pace is done for the year with a torn labrum. So what impact does this have on the Fantasy Football world? Not much. Pace missed the last 7 games of last year due to injury, and during that time, Steven Jackson had his biggest games, especially in PPR leagues. Marc Bulger's production last year was all over the map regardless of whether Pace was in there. So, if you're a Bulger or Jackson owner getting trade offers citing the loss of Pace, unless Tomlinson is involved in the deal, confidently click "deny".

Reader Mailbag (9/13/07)

This week's mailbag was filled with great matchup questions, let's take a quick look at a few:

I'm in a point-per-reception league and I need to start one flex player. I'm trying to decide between Julius Jones and Javon Walker. Any thoughts?
Doug, Joliet

Great question - it's always tough to sit a Running Back in favor of a Wide Receiver, but in this case, I recommend you do it. Besides playing a stingy defense, Marion Barber will be stealing Jones's receptions, and TD's too. Walker will get you the catches and has upside here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lineup question, Chambers or Betts?
D.M., NY NY

Again, the WR vs. RB issue. In a PPR, I'm going with Chambers. Betts looked mediocre at best last Sunday, albeit against a good defense. I still like Chambers here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guys, I'm stacked at WR and can play either Andre Johnson or Roy Williams, which one do you go with?
Jack M., Georgia

I like Andre Johnson's matchup better this week, although you probably can't go wrong with either. Johnson looks like he's going to have a career season, so better to keep him in the lineup and ride the wave.

Week 2: Strong Play/Weak Play Recap (Updated 9/18)

Strong QB Plays

Brett Farve @NYG: After getting picked apart by Romo last week, look for Farve to do the same against the banged up Giants this week. It also helps that WR Greg Jennings will be back this week.

286 yards and 3 TD's, with only 1 INT. We were wrong about Jennings back, but it didn't matter. Great day for Favre.

Drew Brees @TB: Don’t panic on Bress yet, he should rebound nicely against a struggling Tampa D this week. Brees dominated the Bucs last year in Tampa.

This is a push, Brees didn't light it up, but he was adequate. If the rest of your team doesn't stink, Brees put you in a position to win.

Tony Romo @MIA: Romo proved last year was no fluke against the Giants in week 1. Miami’s defense is hurting in the secondary and could be in for a long day as Romo will pick apart their defense.

His 186 yards wasn't much, but his 36 rushing yards, 2 TD's and zero picks made Romo the 7th ranked QB in most scoring systems.

Ben Roethlisberger vs. BUF: Big Ben looks to be back on track after a 4 TD performance against a weak Cleveland D. The Bills gave up 300 yards passing last week to Jay Cutler, so look for Ben to have similar numbers with a couple of TD’s to go with it.

We took a push on Brees, so we've gotta do the same with Big Ben since their stats were close to identical. Not stellar, but adequate.

Weak QB Plays

Phillip Rivers @NE: Rivers is going up against another tough defense for the second week in a row. He will be in for a long day in New England and all owners should avoid starting him this week.

Since we took pushes on Brees and Big Ben, we'll take a loss on this one. Rivers came in just below those two guys in points, so while he didn't exactly tear it up, he didn't bomb like we thought he would.

Marc Bulger vs. SF: The Rams will be without three of their offensive lineman this week and Bulger will have pressure in his face all day. The 49ers secondary is vastly improved and looked solid in shutting down Leinart last week. Bulger should be avoided this week if possible.

300+ and a TD. Whoops.

Jason Campbell @PHI: The Eagles didn’t allow a TD last week against Farve, plus Campbell failed to throw a TD. Don’t expect much from Campbell and avoid starting him until he starts delivering consistently.

209 yards, a TD and a pick. Not a great day.

Strong RB Plays

Adrian Peterson @DET: Once again the rookie makes the list and is a must start going up against the Lions. Peterson will get the majority of the carries as Chester Taylor is nursing an oblique injury.

100+ combined yards and 4 catches. Good but not great. We'll call it even.

Marion Barber III @MIA: This guy is a TD machine and should rack up decent yardage and catches to go with it. The Dolphins gave up nearly 200 rushing yards last week to the Redskins.

95 total yards and 2 TD's means this gets written in green.

Maurice Jones-Drew vs. ATL: Jones did struggle in week 1, but didn’t touch the ball much. He will have a big day against the Falcons who got torched last week against Peterson and the Vikings.

Very few touches again. Remind us why we drafted him in the second round?

Deuce McAllister @TB: Deuce always has big games against the Bucs. Look for him to get into the end zone at least once and have about 80-90 yards rushing.

The only Deuce that was runnin' loose during this game was the one in my toilet, which is where this prediction belongs.

Weak RB Plays

Jamal Lewis vs. CIN: Lets be honest here about Lewis, he has looked terrible ever since he got out of jail. With their QB situation to go along with that, avoid Lewis until things get turned around in Cleveland.

This is getting ugly.

Ahman Green @Car: The Texans offense did look good last week but they are playing a Carolina team that completely shut down Steven Jackson last week on the road. Green will be in for a long day.

70+ yards and a TD, not great, but still too good to call a weak play

Warrick Dunn @JAX: I know we said sit both Tennessee RB’s last week against the Jags but don’t expect the Falcons run game to do a repeat of that. Jacksonville will have eight in the box all day to shut down Dunn.

50 yards and a TD isn't bad, but it's not good either. We need some help this week, so we're calling this even.

Jerious Norwood @JAX: See above for Dunn.

Thomas Jones @BAL: Jones didn’t look 100% last week versus the Patriots gaining only 42 yards on 14 carries. Jones will have another tough game at Baltimore and may not get on track for a few more weeks.

87 total yards and no TD's. Put this one in the win column for us

Strong WR Plays

Chris Chambers vs. DAL: Chambers started off the season well with 6 catches for 92 yard. Look for him to hook up with Trent Green versus the Cowboys who got burned last week by the Giants through the air.

Catches and yards means points, which is what Chambers produced on Sunday

Santonio Holmes vs. BUF: The Bills secondary is hurting even more after the loss of Nate Clements in the off-season as Safety Ko Simpson and DB Jason Webster are out for the season. Holmes should be good for 100 yards and a score.

Hines Ward vs. BUF: See above for Holmes.

About 50 yards for each, not strong outings

Bernard Berrian vs. KC: Berrian had a good performance at San Diego last week with 5 catches for 83 yards. He should have better numbers against KC who let first time starter Matt Schaub throw all over them in week 1.

Same here.

Joey Galloway vs. NO: Garcia will look to Galloway often as the Bucs will have to score points to keep up with the Saints to win. It will also help Joey’s numbers if the Saints stick Jason David on him.

Joey Jo-Jo dominated the Saints' D on Sunday. We hope he was in your lineup.

Greg Jennings @NYG: Farve will light it up versus the Giants and Jennings should get plenty of looks as the Giants will be keying on Driver.

Jennings ended up not playing.

Devery Henderson @TB: If you have an option to play 3 or 4 WR’s, start Henderson. Last year Henderson had a big day with two touchdowns in Tampa. With DB Brian Kelly banged up the Saints will be picking apart the Bucs secondary.

Ah, yeah, he didn't have a catch. Let's finish this already.

Weak WR Plays

Laveranues Coles @BAL: With state of the Jets QB situation and playing at Baltimore try to avoid Coles if possible as he and the Jets could be in for a long day.

57 yards was weak above, so it's weak here.

Vincent Jackson @NE: Jackson had a tough opener with 3 catches for 28 yards against the Bears. Jackson faces another tough secondary this week and would advise looking for another option for your wide-out slot.

53 yards, weak.

Saturday Player Notes

Eli Manning: Questionable, ugh. Nobody will know until Sunday what's going on here.
Our Take: The smart money says look elsewhere at QB even if Manning does start.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drew Bennett: Drew Bennett will start Sunday for the St. Louis Rams.
Our Take: We want to see one game before we give the green light to start, but if you like rolling the dice, he's got some upside.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greg Jennings: Missed practice on Friday and will probably not play on Sunday.
Our Take: Keep him on your bench.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Housh: He is slated to start Week 2
Our Take: Get ready for a season of wondering whether his knee will keep him from the lineup.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chester Taylor: He is technically questionable for the game, but with an oblique injury, he is unlikely to be a meaningful contributor even if he does play.
Our Take: We hope your season wasn't riding on Chester Taylor, if so, our condolences. To make yourself feel better, we suggest finding the guy in your league who reached on Adrian Peterson and kicking him in the groin.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shaun Alexander: Will play, but with a brace on his sprained left wrist.
Our Take: You have to start him, so set your lineup and cross your fingers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Josh McCown / Daunte Culpepper: It looks like Culpepper will start this Sunday for the Raiders, as McCown has a foot injury.
Our Take: Bump up the Denver Defense about 10 notches.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T.J. Duckett / Tatum Bell / Kevin Jones: Duckett is out for Sunday's game, as is Kevin Jones. That means Bell will carry the load for one more week at least. Jones is shooting for a week 3 return.
Our Take: Although we here at FFAll-Stars.com have Bell and Jones handcuffed in every league we're in, we'd like Jones to take it slow and not dilute the carries and catches in Detroit. At any rate, start Bell with confidence this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alge Crumpler: He missed practice this week, but reports out of Atlanta state that he will start week 2.
Our Take: If he's your guy, start him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bryant Johnson: His hamstring is ailing, and so is your team if he's anything but a bench player.
Our Take: The Cardinals looked out of sync last week and Johnson is hurt. Don't start him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eric Parker: He has been ruled out of Week 2.
Our Take: Um, okay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kyle Boller / Steve McNair: It appears that Kyle Boller will start Sunday, although this has not been confirmed by the team.
Our Take: McNair, Boller, the Jets Defense, it's a cornucopia of mediocrity! We see no real change in the values of McGahee, Clayton and Mason this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greg Olsen: Most likely will not be in the lineup this Sunday.
Our Take: Continue to email and harass the guy in your league who picked Olsen 3 rounds too soon.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vernand Morency: Still banged up, he couldn't finish practice on Thursday because of his knee.
Our Take: Brandon Jackson is the starter and it doesn't appear that Morency will be giving him much trouble for a while.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Antonio Gates: Gates is ready to go this Sunday, despite missing practice this week with a sore back.
Our Take: We're long in Gates, so as long as he's healthy we don't mind seeing the Chargers give him a day off or two. Start him with confidence.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cadillac Williams / Michael Pittman: Cadillac is apparently going to try playing this Sunday, despite having bruised ribs.
Our Take: We like Pittman better here, especially in PPR leagues. Even if Caddy starts, Pittman will make the catches and if Caddy can't finish the game, Pittman will shoulder the load.

Waiver Wire Pickups

RB DeShawn Wynn (GB): The 7th round pick out of Florida has played well enough in spelling for fellow rookie RB Brandon Jackson the first two weeks, that there is a chance he could start in week 3. Wynn scored 2 TD’s on ten carries and gained 50 yards on the ground against the Giants on Sunday. Wynn has outplayed the higher pick Jackson and has a good combination of size, speed, and mobility. This guy is no longer a sleeper and if you can still grab him, don’t hesitate because somebody else will.

RB Sammy Morris (NE): Morris has gotten 10+ carries in the first two weeks and is getting the goal line carries. Morris faces a poor Buffalo run defense next week and in a 12 man league with flex positions he should be considered.

WR Shaun McDonald (DET): McDonald has been a huge surprise to everyone by leading the Lions in both receptions and receiving yards the first two weeks. McDonald has the advantage of knowing Mike Martz’s system from his days in St. Louis. Detroit loves to air it out and spread it around so don’t worry about enough touches to go around. Grab McDonald and keep him on your bench until he shows the first two weeks were no fluke.

WR Roydell Williams (TEN): Williams had a solid game against the Colts in Week 2 with 4 catches for 71 yards and TD. Grab him but keep him on your bench and wait to see if he can continue his progression with Vince Young.

QB Derek Anderson (CLE): Anderson is another grab but wait and see guy. He had a huge game with 5 TD passes and 328 yards passing against a terrible Bengals defense and shouldn’t be in your starting lineup until a few more quality starts. Good news is the Browns have good weapons and will be playing from behind a lot.

Post-Week 2 Injury Report

Week 3 Update 9/21:

LaMont Jordan RB Oak- The Sacramento Bee is reporting that Jordan has not practiced the past two days with a sore back and will most likely be a game time decision. This is a tough blow for Jordan owners as he has looked good in his first two starts. Check back on The Sunday Morning Updates for his Week 3 status.

NFL Injuries for week 3: 09/18/07

Doubtful / Out:

Andre Johnson WR Texans – Doubtful Knee Sprain – Tough blow to the Texans and anyone who has him on there team. It looks like at least 2 weeks depending on the swelling. Count him out for sure against the Colts.

Eddie Kennison WR Chiefs- OUT Hamstring – Still working on the recovery from week one. He will not play week 3

D.J. Hackett WR Seahawks- Out Ankle- The high ankle sprain will keep himout for about a month.

Questionable:

Greg Jennings WR Packers – Questionable Hamstring – he has missed the last two weeks with the hamstring injury. If he practices it won’t be till later in the week.

Steve McNair QB Ravens – Questionable Groin – Hopefully you have established another QB as your starter already. Steer clear of the old man.

Troy Williamson WR Vikings – Questionable Hamstring- Hami’s are tough to call. It may be a good idea to start another receiver for this week if you have one.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR Bengals – Probable Knee – HE will play especially after last weeks performance. His stats will suffer a bit, but it is worth having him in with Carson throwing to him.

Probable:

Kevin Jones RB Lions- Probable Foot – As long as he continues to recover well he should return for week 3 for at least a few series.

Jon Kitna QB Lions – Probable Head- He suffered from a concussion in sudays game. He claims it went away and was able to go back in. this lion will find the field Sunday no matter what.

T.J. Ducket RB Lions – Probable Ankle – He sprained it in week one. He was in active week two. He my see some carries in week three. Definatly a week play until we know for sure.

Day to Day:

Vernand Morency RB Packers – Day to Day knee – He is going to try to practice this week. Check back later in the week for more news.

Tavaris Jackson QB Vikings- day to day Groin – He left the game at the beginning of OT Sunday. He is certain to miss some practice. Check back later in the week to see his updated status.

Chester Taylor RB Vikings- day to day Oblique- His MRI in week 1 showed a bruise on his oblique. He did not play week two. We will update his status as the week moves forward.

Plaxico Burress WR Giants- Day to Day finger/ankle- This warrior has been banged up for the last two weeks. He states that he is going to play. Count on it.

Chad Pennington QB Jets- Day to Day Ankle- He hurt his ankle week one. Did not play week 2 but could have. He made a comment that he can play. He will most likely start week 3. Check back for more updates.

Brian Westbrook RB Eagles- Day to Day Knee- He strained his knee in the Monday game against the Redskins. Andy Reid says that he is fine and that he will play week 3.

Marc Bulger QB Rams- Day to Day Ribs/knee- With the loss of his Orlando Pace Bulger is getting beat up. His injuries are not enough to keep him out of week 3.

Patrick Crayton WR Cowboys- Day to day Finger – The dislocated finger is a painful injury to a wide out. Look at our update later in the week to asses his play time.

Week 2 WCOFF Recap

This week we faced what appears to be the team to beat, Trunk Monkeys. In week 1, Trunk Monkeys scored a ton of points, and they appeared to have some favorable matchups in Week 2. We made two changes to the starting roster, substituting Arnaz Battle for Muhsin Muhammad, and the Bengals for Miami at Defense. Swing and a miss on the defense, and he had Steve Smith with his monster day. Needless to say, we lost, but it is at least comforting to know we didn't leave any points on the bench that would have mattered. Here's the final tally:

Reader Mailbag (9/20)

Let's get to the questions:

Hey guys, I've got Lee Evans but also Shaun McDonald. I'm considering starting McDonald over Evans, what do you think?
-John, Pitt. PA

McDonald is getting as many looks as Calvin Johnson (17 to 16 respectively), and he's been making catches when he's had the chance. Evans and the Bills are struggling, and against New England it may not get any better. Evans will break out of his slump eventually, so it's up to you whether to keep him in the lineup as dead weight until he does. We like the McDonald play.

I was just wondering who to start at the flex position. My current options are Santonio Holmes, Chris Chambers or Thomas Jones.
-Brad

Jones is getting a lot of touches, but he's not doing much with them. When making a decision like this, we always use targets as the deciding factor. Last week, Chambers had 16 targets, and 27 for the year. Holmes had 6 last week, and 9 for the year. While we like Holmes as a WR this year, Chambers appears to be the guy to go with.

TE question, Crumpler vs. Panthers or Witten vs. Bears?
-Hank, Starkville, Miss.

Their catches are close, but Witten has done more with them. That said, we'd play the matchup and start Crumpler against the Panthers.

Week 3: Strong Play-Weak Play

QB Strong Plays

Vince Young @NO: Young has a good match up on Monday Night against the Saints Defense that has given up 8 TD’s in their first two games. Young should deliver with both his arm and legs, start him this week.

Matt Hasselbeck vs. CIN: This is a great match up for Hasselbeck at home against the Bengals. We all know what Derek Anderson and the Browns Offense did to that defense last week so expect Hasselbeck to put up some good fantasy numbers.

Jason Campbell vs. NYG: Campbell looks like a strong play this week just by the fact he is facing a terrible Giants Defense. They have been carved up through the air the first two weeks and Campbell should have around 250 yards with a few TD’s.

Jake Delhomme @ATL: Steve Smith and Delhomme have been on fire this year. They look to be back to their ’05 form after a disappointing season last year. Delhomme should have a couple TD’s in this divisional match up.

Weak QB Plays

Matt Leinart @BAL: Leinart will struggle on the road against a tough Ravens secondary and pass rush. He hasn’t lived up to the high expectations so far this year, don’t expect him to turn it around this week.

Matt Schaub vs. IND: The new Texans QB has looked impressive so far but going up against the Colts Defense without stud receiver Andre Johnson looks to be tough. Avoid Schaub until Johnson returns.

Alex Smith @PIT: Smith has not looked good with 0 TD’s and 252 yards passing in his first two games. Smith will be in for a long day in Pittsburgh, look elsewhere on for your QB this week.

J.P. Losman @NE: The Patriots Defense has been shutting down offenses this year. Losman has not looked good and has had trouble hooking up with Lee Evans so far this year. Avoid Losman this week as he will continue to struggle.

Strong RB Plays

Cedric Benson vs. DAL: Benson looked good last week topping 100 yards rushing on 24 carries. The Cowboys don’t have the best run defense, and the Bears will look to pound the ball often to minimize Grossman’s mistakes.

Clinton Portis vs. NYG: The Giants can’t stop anybody this year and Portis has scored in his first two games this season. Portis should have a TD and a100 yards rushing

Adrian Peterson @KC: The Chiefs Defense is average at best. The talented rookie will post good yards rushing and receiving and should be good for a score.

Lamont Jordan @CLE: Coming off a career best 159 yards rushing on 25 carries, Jordan is a must start at home against the Browns. Jordan looks to be having the season everyone thought he was going to have last year.

Weak RB Plays

Edgerrin James @BAL: James will struggle as the Cardinals O-Line won’t be able to open up any holes the stingy Ravens Defense.

Marshawn Lynch @NE: If L.T. and the Chargers can’t do much in New England, don’t expect much out of the rookie and the Bills.

Julius Jones @CHI: Jones wont be put up much against the Bears, and the fact Barber gets the TD’s, sit Jones this week.

DeShawn Wynn vs. SD: Yes the rookie looked good last week but let’s remember he was playing the Giants. He is a good pickup on the waiver wire, but he is not a solid play this week against the Chargers.

Strong WR Plays

Santana Moss vs. NYG: Moss could have a monster day against the Giants secondary that can’t stop anyone. Moss has the speed to burn their secondary if Campbell can get him the ball downfield.

Joey Galloway vs. STL: Galloway looks to have a nice connection with Jeff Garcia after scoring 2 TD’s last week. Look for Joey to flex the guns in the end zone for a second straight week aganist a banged up Rams secondary.

Laveranues Coles vs. MIA: Coles was quiet last week at Baltimore, but will get back on track at home against the Dolphins. Coles has a good history against Miami and is a must start.

Chris Chambers @NYJ: Chambers is the only weapon on a bad Miami Offense. In his last game in New York he had 5 catches for 60 yards and a score.

Deion Branch vs. CIN: After the Bengals game last week you could make an argument to start the Seahawks #5 receiver. Branch had a big game last week after putting up a goose egg in week 1. Branch will get plenty of looks in what should be a high scoring game.

Nate Burleson vs. CIN: See above for Branch.

Ronald Curry vs. CLE: Curry should be good for 100 yards and a score against a defense that gave up 6 TD’s through the air last week.

Jerry Porter vs. CLE: See above for Curry.

Bernard Berrian vs. DAL: Dallas’ pass rush has been awful with only 3 sacks through two games this season. Grossman will have time to find his #1 option as Berrian will get plenty of looks his way to have a solid game.

Wes Welker vs. BUF: Welker has become one of Brady's favorite targets early on playing the slot position. As teams will double on Moss and focus on the running game, Welker should get plenty of looks at home against a banged up Bills secondary.

Weak WR Plays

Lee Evans @NE: Evans has gotten off to a brutal start this season and is facing a New England Defense that will shut him down for another week. Avoid Evans if you have other options.

Darrell Jackson @PIT: With Alex Smith struggling and playing at Pittsburgh, Jackson is not a good choice this week.

Any Jacksonville WR @DEN: The Broncos have one of the best pass defenses in the league giving up only 1 TD with 4 INT's and 170 yards passing through the first two games. Add to that the Jaguars Offense has not done anything this year with 23 combined points in their first two games with only 2 TD's.

Waiver Wire Post-Week 3 (9/25)

RB DeShaun Foster (CAR): For whatever reason Foster is still available in many leagues; he is only owned in 42% of yahoo leagues. Against the Falcons on Sunday he had 22 carries for 122 yards and a score. Second year back DeAngelo Williams doesn’t appear to be a threat as he is not getting as many touches. Grab him now if he is available, he could be a beast the rest of the season if he can stay healthy.

RB Sammy Morris (NE): For the second straight week Morris has found the end zone and has also had 10+ carries in every game this season. Morris has been a nightmare to Maroney owners this season and continues to have solid games in deep leagues as a flex player.

RB Earnest Graham (TB): Graham came out of nowhere on Sunday to torch the Rams for 75 yards and 2 scores on 8 carries. This does appear to be a one game wonder type performance but grab him just in case brittle Cadillac Williams goes down. Jon Gruden did say after the game that he needs to find a way to get the ball in Graham’s hands more.

RB Aaron Stecker (NO): With Deuce McAllister out for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee, Stecker will see his role increase dramatically. Stecker should get around 15 touches a games, as Reggie Bush has never carried the workload himself at the NFL or college level.

RB Brian Leonard (STL): The rookie out of Rutgers has been named the starter for Week 4 against the Cowboys. With starter Steven Jackson out for the next 2-3 weeks with a pulled groin, Leonard should get around 20-25 touches during that time. He is a big back with excellend hands catching out of the backfield.

RB Ron Dayne (HOU): With Ahman Green's status for week 4 against the Falcons unknown, Dayne will be the Texans starter by default. Grab Dayne and use him if one of your # 2 or 3 backs is on a bye. Check back for updates on the status of the Texans backfield for Sunday.

RB Kenny Watson (CIN): Rudi Johnson's status for the Monday night game against the Patriots is very uncertain. Watson would be the teams starter if Rudi can't go with his injured hamstring. Marvin Lewis said on Tuesday that Rudi is a guy who the team is unsure about. Hamstrings are a lingering injury and Watson could see plenty of action for the foreseable future.

WR Dwayne Bowe (KC): The rookie looked impressive on Sunday scoring for the second straight week. Bowe had 5 catches for 71 yards and appears to be a reliable play after holding out during most of training camp. Bowe has much more value in keeper leagues.

WR Greg Jennings (GB): After a mass dropping of Jennings over the past two weeks, Jennings is a must grab if he is available. The second year WR had 4 catches for 82 yards and a score in his first game of the year. Farve has been on fire this year and Jennings looks to be back on track to having the year everyone thought he would have.

WR Roddy White (ATL): White had what was hopefully a breakout game Sunday with 7 catches for 127 yards and a score. The former first round pick in '05 appears to have a good connection with Harrington and is getting targeted more in the passing game each week. Grab the third year wide-out and hope he can continue his progression.

Post-Week 3 Injury Report

Week 3 Injuries for Week 4

Doubtful / Out:

Andre Johnson WR Texans – Doubtful Knee Sprain – Tough blow to the Texans and anyone who has him on there team. It looks like at least 2 weeks depending on the swelling. Week 4 does not look so good.

Eddie Kennison WR Chiefs- OUT Hamstring – Still working on the recovery from week one. He will not play week 4.

Deuce McAllister RB Saints – Out ACL – The phrase the deuce is loose will no longer be made in 2007. ACL is a season ending injury.

Steven Jackson RB Rams – Out Groin – He tore his groin against the mighty Bucs. He will sit out week 4 of the 2007 season. Stay tuned to when this Ram will return.

Questionable:

Steve McNair QB Ravens – Questionable Groin – Hopefully you have established another QB as your starter already. Steer clear of the old man.

J.P. Losman QB Bills – Questionable Knee – He went out the first drive of the game with a knee injury. As we receive more info we will update the severity of the injury.

Calvin Johnson WE Loins – Questionable Back – With a spectacular catch on Sunday he landed wrong and bruised his back. With a bad lower back bruise it will be tough for him to walk much less run and jump to catch Kitna’s lasers. Look back for more info as the week moves forward to see if he plays Sunday.

Ahman Green RB Texans – Questionable Knee – His left knee was checked out with an MRI. Everything looked good. He has a lot of swelling. He states that he is taking it day by day.

Tavaris Jackson QB Vikings- Questionable Groin – He did not play last week against the Chiefs. Coach Childress said on Monday that Jackson is “still up in the air”. If he does not play next week against the Packers he will have been out for three weeks. Look to Holcomb to play this week. After the Packers they have a bye week.

Chester Taylor RB Vikings – Questionable Hip – This will count as the third week out if he does not play. Coach Childress is optimistic to see him on the field this week.

Brian Westbrook RB Eagles – Questionable Abdomen – Initial reports stated that he had a rib injury. The official site stated that it was actually an abdomen strain. Look to sit him week 4.

Maurice Morris RB Seahawks – Questionable Hip – It looks as though he will be back on the roster for week 4. Check back for more updates.

Vernon Davis TE 49ers – Questionable Knee – It looks like he will miss at least 2 weeks.

Probable:

Kevin Jones RB Lions- Probable Foot – Mr. Jones had limited play on the field for week 3. He stated that his foot felt fine and is looking forward to a bigger load week 4.

Anquan Boldin WR Cardinals – Probable Hip – Coach Whisenhunt was not sure the status of his injury. The report states that it was minor.

Jay Cutler QB Broncos – Probable Ankle – Reports states that he has a minor ankle sprain. He states that he will not miss the game against the Colts.

Shawn Alexander RB Seahawks – Probable Wrist – He has a cracked bone in his left wrist. So far this season he is tracking his second best season rushing in his career. I don’t think the wrist is holding him back too much.

Day to Day:

Jake Delhomme QB Carolina – Day to Day Elbow – David Carr finished that game for Delhomme last week against Atlanta. Delhomme states that his strained elbow is fine and that he will be ok to play against Tampa Bay.

Todd Heap TE Ravens – Day to Day head – Heap got hit by Adrian Wilson in Sunday’s game giving him a mild concussion. His production and his work ethic will not allow him to miss Sunday’s game. Make sure you keep him in this week against the browns. His head will be fine.

Marc Bulger QB Rams- Day to Day Ribs- The ribs played a factor with the small production against the Bucs. He will be out there next week in Dallas.

Kellen Winslow TE Browns – Day to Day Shoulder – On the final drive in Oakland, Winslow bruised his shoulder. In the locker room Winslow stated that he is fine and he will play next week against the Ravens.

Week 4 Strong Play-Weak Play

Strong QB Plays

Donovan McNabb @NYG: McNabb should follow up with another big game against the Giants after a career day last week against the Lions.

Phillip Rivers vs. KC: Rivers has a near 90 QB rating this season while facing some of the leagues best defenses. Rivers could be in for a big day as the Chargers look to get back on track at home against the struggling Chiefs.

Jon Kitna vs. CHI: The Bears Defense has been wiped out by injuries the past few weeks. Both starting corners Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman are out for this week’s game. The Lions will look to make a statement game while Kitna and his receivers should have big days.

Tony Romo vs. STL: Romo should feast at home against the Rams and will continue to be a top fantasy QB

Chad Pennington @BUF: The Bills Secondary is depleted by injuries. Pennington has the potential for a big game with WR’s Laveranues Coles and Jericho Cotchery having good seasons.

Weak QB Plays

Derek Anderson vs. BAL: Put Anderson on your bench this week and look for a better QB match up on your roster. The Ravens Defense will shut him down.

Matt Leinart vs PIT: Avoid Leinart this week facing a tough Steelers Defense. Add to the fact he was taken out last week in favor of backup Kurt Warner.

Marc Bulger @DAL: Bulger did not look good last week at Tampa Bay and he has two broken ribs, no O-Line, and no Steven Jackson. The Dallas Defense has improved dramatically since their week 1 torching by the Giants.

Strong RB Plays

Willis McGahee @CLE: The Browns have been giving up big games on the ground all year. McGahee should have his best day as a Raven this Sunday.

Thomas Jones @BUF: The Bills are hurting on Defense with injuries and Jones should take advantage with a solid fantasy day.

Marion Barber III vs. STL: The Rams gave up over 140 yards and 3 TD’s on the ground last week to the Bucs. Barber should have another big day with a TD and around 100 yards.

Cedric Benson @DET: The Bears will look to slow this game down with new starting QB Brian Griese and will want to keep their banged up defense off the field. Benson should continue to build on his solid season.

DeShaun Foster vs. TB: Foster has averaged 5.2 yards a carry this so far this season and had 2 TD's last week. Tampa Bay has not been able to stop the run very well this season and could give up some big runs to Foster.

LaMont Jordan @MIA: Jordan is having a top fantasy season so far this season. Miami has not been able to stop any runningbacks the first few weeks and Jordan will have another big game.

Weak RB Plays

Warrick Dunn vs. HOU: The Texans Defense has done a fairly decent job of containing offenses this year. Dunn will have a tough day against the Texans.

Jamal Lewis vs. BAL: The Ravens Defense will shut down the Browns and Lewis in his homecoming game. Only start Lewis if you have no other option.

Cadillac Williams @CAR: Williams has never had good games against the Panthers in his first two seasons. Carolina has been shutting teams down on the ground all year. Expect Graham and Pittman to get a more touches as they have been playing well this year.

Brandon Jackson @MIN: Jackson has been somewhat of a dissapointment to fantasy owners who had high expectations out of the rookie from Nebraska. The Vikings boast one of the top run defenses in the league and should shut the first year back down at home.

Strong WR Plays

Laveranues Coles @BUF: The Jets should be able to throw all over the Bills and Coles should have a big day.

Jerricho Cotchery @BUF: Cotchery should also have a good day against the Bills who are depleted on Defense with injuries.

Santonio Holmes @ARI: Big Ben will look to Holmes often with Hines Ward out with a knee sprain. Holmes has got to get more involved this week and should get more attempts.

Kevin Curtis @NYG: Last week was a career day for Curtis and the Eagles. The Giants have been getting torched all year through the air and Curtis looks to be McNabb’s go to receiver.

Vincent Jackson vs. KC: Jackson looks to be on the verge of a breakout season. He should have a solid game at home against the Chiefs.

Ronald Curry vs. MIA: Curry is another receiver who could be on the verge of a breakout season if he can get consistent QB play. Culpepper appears to be the starter in which he should be highly motivated to show the Dolphins they made a mistake by letting him go in favor of Trent Green.

Joey Galloway @CAR: Garcia and Galloway have been the leaders for this Bucs Offense this season and appear to have a good connection. Galloway usually saves his best games for division opponents.

Wes Welker @CIN: To say the Bengals Defense has been bad this year would be an understatement. Brady spreads the ball around but there should be enough looks for Welker to have a score with around 100 yards.

Derrick Mason @CLE: The Browns have one of the worst pass defense's in the league. Mason should be able to beat the Browns secondary for a big day.

Weak WR Plays

Deion Branch @SF: Branch will be going up against shut down corner Nate Clements who has done wonders the 49ers Defense this season. Avoid Branch if you have other options.

Lee Evans @NE: Of all the bust so far this season, Evans has to be up there. Facing the Patriots this week with a first time starting rookie QB, Evans should continue to disapoint.

2007 Consistency Rankings (Thru Week 3)

In Fantasy Football, consistency is everything. The most successful fantasy teams have a core of stud players, who on good weeks produce elite level performances, and on bad weeks, are still able to produce "starter type" performances. In other words, players who don't pull a "Rex Grossman" on your fantasy team.

The rankings in the left-most column are the players' 2007 pre-season ranking. The current consistency rankings are in the first column to the right of the player's name and team.

The consistency rankings are based on the following league setup and scoring system:

12 Team League

Starters

1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 FLEX (RB, WR, TE)
1 TE
1 K
1 D

Scoring

1 pt. per 25 passing
4 pts. per passing TD

1 pt. per reception
1 pt. per 10 rushing and receiving
6 pts. per rushing and receiving TD
